Our Heritage
Built in 1904 for the prominent Blyth family, Balvonie House was designed by renowned architect Henry E. Clifford. Constructed in 1904 on land granted by the Earl of Eglinton and Winton. It stands as a prime example of the holiday mansions wealthy Glaswegian industrialists built when vacationing "doon the water" on the west coast. Remarkably, Balvonie House is one of the last remaining complete homes in Skelmorlie and still retains its entire original grounds.
